We just got back from a 3 day vacation in Sea Island, Georgia and then took a day trip to visit some friends in Savannah, Georgia. I can't say enough great things about both places. The resort we stayed at called the Cloisters was amazing and I have never seen a place so kid and family friendly. They had day camps for kids, a jungle gym on the beach, a large pool shallow enough for small children to walk, small movie theater for kids, candy shop, and an old fashioned 50's style soda fountain. The beaches are beautiful and not crowded at all and although the water is freezing the shore is wide enough and long enough to take long strolls on the beach.
In addition to everything I have already mentioned the Southern charm is in full effect as everybody was so nice and friendly and you never get those looks like, "damn there are kids here!" The property is huge and also includes a 65,000 square foot spa for those moms that never get a chance to get a massage or facial!
Savannah is about a 2 hour drive and it's such a beautiful little town and I love how all the townhouses are facing a square. The city is so green and full of beautiful parks and is very kid friendly as well. If you ever go you should stay at a great small boutique hotel called The Mansion on Forsyth Park. The decor is very cool and they also have a restaurant that is pretty good and seems like it's a place locals also eat at. The hotel also has a pool that's not too big and not too small, it's just right! Forsyth Park is a beautiful park full of huge willow trees and flowers of every color, they also have a cafe in the park where you can sip on a glass of wine or have a beer.
Hope to see ya'll there!
