Sleep training?!

To all those moms who have tried to sleep train their kids and work at the same time.. you are amazing women! I, at least, work from home and can take a nap when I want. I can't imagine those moms that have to make themselves look somewhat presentable and work in an office for another 8 hours or the moms that have their kids home all day which is, in some respects, even harder.

We actually saw a sleep specialist for my 2.5 year old son who hasn't slept through the night more than say 5 times since he's been born. Yes that's right only 5 times in 2.5 years!! He would come to our bed every night between 10-12 and move around so much we never got a good night's rest...until recently. After a week of sleep training him he finally slept through the night! It was a week of hell and very little sleep but we are very hopeful and optimistic that this training will do the trick.

Surprisingly enough our little baby girl that's only 7 months old sleeps pretty well but still wakes up occasionally at night. We put her in the crib around 6:30 pm and at first she would cry for 30 minutes but after a week it's down to only 10 minutes of crying. It's very hard to hear your baby crying but I keep telling myself, "It's the best thing for the family!" You never know how important a good night's sleep is until you don't have it. Everyone tells you about the lack of sleep when you have kids but I could never imagine what it was like until I had my own kids!

Finally back to work....For real this time

So my baby girl is almost 7 months and she went to daycare today for the first time. Of course it was harder for me than her however the teachers seemed great and she was laughing and smiling the whole time so that made it a lot easier to deal with the guilt! I struggled about whether to send her to daycare or have someone here at home with me while I work. I finally decided on daycare I need alone time and I know I wouldn't be able to work and be productive knowing she's in the other room with someone else. Not to say that's a bad thing at all, I guess every mom is different and every mom should do what makes them a better mom. For me it's alone and quite time!

I haven't really worked in 2.5 years so now its time so get ready for more blog entries and more great handbags and accessories to buy. In the next couple of weeks I will be featuring a new jewelry line and hopefully getting some new handbags. Would love to hear feedback on the jewelry and handbags and other working moms dealing with guilt!!! :)

Cool hotel in Austin

The first picture is a cupcake truck! we just loved the idea of all these food trucks we saw in Austin. We also see a lot in NYC but there was a certain charm to the ones in Austin. So cute!

We stayed at a hotel called San Jose and it was decorated really uniquely and was just the perfect size boutique hotel. They have a little bit larger hotel called St. Cecilia that's a bit more expensive but equally as cool.

It was ridiculously HOT in Texas I mean like 105 degrees so it was great having a pool at the hotel even if it was small.

Fashion in Flight-The Collective Austin, TX 8/19/10

So much to tell! We arrived home from Texas on Sunday and it has taken almost 5 days to get everyone back on schedule and for me to finally be able to sit down and write on this blog.

Austin went well and I have tons of pictures to share. My company NYCchic.com had a booth at the event and even had 2 bags featured in the show. We were also a sponsor so hopefully people will remember NYCchic.com and eventually purchase a bag.

We actually left the kids with my parents in Dallas and it was great to finally sleep through the night without any interruptions. Since we don't really have anyone to babysit on a regular basis we took full advantage and stayed an extra day in Austin to just lounge around, go to the pool, and have long dinners. Back to Life!

It's been a while since I've written anything. I had a baby girl on April 4th and for the first 5-6 weeks she was very colicky. There are very few things that are worse than a baby crying all night however everything is much better now and she's a doll! She's only 4 months and sleeps through the night so couldn't ask for much more.

As a way to jump start my business NYCchic.com is a sponsor for Austin's very first Fashion Week which will take place August 16-20. Just had a baby!

On Sunday April 4th at 4PM our little girl Adriana was born. This birth wasn't as bad as my son's which took almost 36 hours of labor before he was born. The past week has been filled with late night feedings, catching up on sleep, and trying to organize the day with two kids now. In some sense it's a bit easier because you're not as cautious about everything but on the other hand dealing with a toddler and a newborn on totally different schedules is difficult at times. At least my 2 year old goes to daycare during the day! I have to say I don't know how the SAHM do it with all the kids at home and with no help. It's the most exhausting task there is! I used to be a real estate agent and when I started I would literally be walking around NYC in the heat and bitter cold taking clients to see cheap apartments that had no elevators and were sometimes 4-5 flight walk ups. I thought there was nothing more tiring than that but I was wrong, being with kids all day is 10 times more exhausting! At least when I got home from work I could put my feet up and go to bed without being woken up several times throughout the night. Ahhhh to sleep straight through the night.... I don't even remember what that's like.

Alright enough complaining... I will try and write at least once a week if not more. In the meantime here's some cute pics of "baby sissy!"

sex and the city part deux!

I loved Sex and the City when it was on HBO and loved seeing the first movie. Having lived in NYC since I was 18 I enjoy seeing certain restaurants and locations in New York that I have either been to or definitely recognize.

Love seeing all the fashion on the girls especially the handbags and shoes! I am planning a girl's night out on May 28th even though I will have newborn on my hands and a toddler but oh well I think my hubby can handle it for one night right?!

Make sure when you do your girl's night you put on your high heels i.e Manolos! I still have some that have I never worn and are collecting dust so a good excuse to bring them out.

Spring time jewelry

I have recently become a big fan of J. Crew which if you would've told me that 5 years ago I would've said NO WAY TOO PREPPY! It seems as though in the last couple of years their style has become much cooler and chic and a lot less East Coast prep school style. I love their dresses, shoes, and especially their jewelry. I have never been a big fan of costume jewelry but slowly began incorporating pieces into my outfits (yes even now with a baby and one on the way) and it makes such a huge difference!

I love adding either big earrings and maybe a few gold bangles or several long necklaces and small earrings; however I try not to over do it because then it just looks silly. I also love thick bracelets and beaded cuffs. I once got a great jeweled cuff at Calypso. Check out these strand pearl necklaces from J. Crew. I picture them with a cool white or bright colored linen or light fabric button down shirt with jeans and heels or a nice T-shirts with cute shorts wedges and/or heels.

Only 2 more weeks and finally spring time!

So I only have 2 more weeks until our baby girl is born and am I ready to have this baby. The last couple weeks are the worst and thank god I didn't gain as much weight as I did with my son. One day maybe I will reveal how fat I got!

For those that are on the east coast are probably outside enjoying this great weather we're having lately I mean 70 degrees that's more than enough reason to play hooky from work! It's also good timing for the birth of Adriana as I won't have to be stuck all day inside and can at least go for a walk and get a head start on losing some of the baby weight.

Amy moms out there have some ideas on how to lose the baby weight quickly? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Weekly coffee talk with my girls!

Every Thursday I meet with my two best mommy friends to bitch and moan about everything. we usually end up bitching about our husbands, kids and life in general and now that I am nearing the end of my pregnancy I like to bitch about that.

3 more weeks to go and it feels like an eternity. Ever had that feeling too? Feeling huge and uncomfortable and can't sleep. Unfortunately the no sleep problem will only get worse when the baby comes but maybe I will get more "quality" sleep or maybe that's just wishful thinking...

Anyway I really enjoy our coffee talks and highly recommend it for any mom. It's a great way to vent and just get a quick break from the kids and have some adult time.

Baby Shower

This Saturday I had my baby shower at this lovely bed and breakfast in the Gramercy section of NYC and everything was just so cute! We're expecting a little girl this time so everything was pink and dainty. My sister and friend did a great job of planning everything and making sure everything ran smoothly. Check out the flower shaped balloon and cake made out of diapers...so cute!

Fashion trends in NYC that every MOM could follow

Living in and around NYC you get to see a lot of handbags, shoes, and clothes that you may not see in the rest of the country. One of those items is a Foley and Corinna bag which are pretty popular in NYC however not sure they are as popular in the rest of the country. Foley and Corinna have a great boutique here in NYC and I was actually able to get my hands on 4 of the bags for my site.

Blog? what is that? Well here I go I am going to try this whole blog thing and hope there is at least someone out there that finds it a little bit interesting.

I have a 21 month old little boy, named Lucas, and we're expecting a little girl in less than a month! I have always been interested in clothes, shoes, bags and in 2004 I decided to try and make a biz out of it so I launched an online retail store selling designer handbags for less and in 2006 I started working in real estate hoping to make additional money to reinvest in my site. Took about two years to achieve my goal then the real estate market crash happened, I had a baby and now I am back to square one!

Like many moms would agree, to say that your life changes after you have kids is a serious understatement. However I am serious about trying to maintain some sort of style even if I have 10 kids. I would love to hear feedback from other moms and find out what they do to maintain their style.
